Disney Profile Pictures Mary Poppins Feed the Birds

Do you know what Walt Disney's favorite Disney song is? If you guessed "Feed the Birds" from Mary Poppins because it's the title of this blog, then you are correct. The song itself has a wonderful message that we would all do well to heed. Learn to see past the end of your nose and give back to your community. If we all followed this advice, the world would be a much brighter place to live.

Show Them You Care

There are so many different things to do in this world. There are infinite things to do, to buy, and ways to improve yourself. With this in mind, it can be easy to get caught up in yourself. You may want to buy luxuries for your family or you may want to reach the top of the ladder at your job. While it is great to dream and strive to be the best you can be, it is also important to take the time to think of others.

Just as Mary Poppins says, "Sometimes a person we love, through no fault of his own, can't see past the end of his nose." In the movie, Mr. Banks gets wrapped up in his job and providing for his family, just as many of us do at times. Sometimes we need to snap out of mission mode and remember what is important in life; spending time with and taking care of each other.

Tuppence a Bag

There are countless ways you can help someone and affect their life in a positive way. The more you give, the better of others can be. However, if you don't have much to give, you can find some way to make someone feel supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Remember the Bird Woman wasn't asking for much. Just tuppence for a bag for birdseed. Even if you don't have that, a simple smile, compliment, or kind words has the power to make a difference. Sometimes all people need is just a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down.

It's a Jolly Holiday with Mary; Mary Makes the Sun Shine Bright

Sometimes it can be easy to get caught up in thinking that owning a certain item will make you happy. And while certain items can provide joy, that happiness can fade fairly quickly. However, knowing you helped someone, brought them joy, or positively impacted their life can give you longer-lasting joy because it gives you a sense of purpose.

If you consistently try to do good things for people without expecting anything in return, you will likely find yourself and the people around you in a better mood. Just look at how Mary Poppins came into the Banks household and changed everyone for the better. In a clever way, she taught Jane and Michael to take pride in their chores and take responsibility while influencing Mr. Banks to learn what is truly important in life.

Winds in the East, Mist Coming In, Like Something is Brewing, About to Begin

When you make your life about noticing things beyond the end of your nose and helping people, you may start to notice others doing the same. People will see the joy you receive from charity and helping others and want the same for themselves. You will start a ripple that will spread further than you can imagine.

Just look at the Banks household. Once the children became touched by Mary Poppins, it spread to their father, then their mother, then even Ellen and Cook. By the end of the movie, the entire town seemed to be in a good mood. While you may not be able to change an entire town's mood, you can certainly make a significant difference to be proud of.

Step In Time! Spit Spot!

Finally, it is very easy to get inspired and say you are going to do something and then not do it. Don't let that happen this time. As Mary Poppins says in Mary Poppin's Returns, "Today or never, that's my motto." So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious life that's practically perfect in every way!
